Who Is Jesus?

In a world where people let us down and change, we all are walking around with different hurts. We all fail- it’s in our nature. No one is perfect and that’s okay. I’m so thankful there is somebody who will never leave me nor forsake me. That’s Jesus!!

We all have different needs, and Jesus is there to meet your specific needs. We have such an intentional Father! The Bible says, “And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows (Matthew 10:30-31 NLT).

Isn’t that crazy! The very hairs on our head are all numbered. In a world with over 7 billion people in it, He cares about even the littlest things of who YOU are.

He gives me JOY

My main question for this entire project is Who Is Jesus? I'm going to start with my answer. He is my healer! I created a podcast answering this question a little more in depth with my personal experiences!

Jesus Is God

Let's dive into some scripture. So who is this Jesus? First and foremost - he is God!

Jesus is God in the human flesh! He came down from heaven and was born of a virgin, Mary. Below are some scriptures on the oneness of God:

John 10:30 NLT

The Father and I are one.”

Philippians 2:5-8 NLT

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. [6] Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. [7] Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, [8] he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

John 1:18 NLT

No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.

John 8:57-59 NLT

The people said, “You aren’t even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham? ” [58] Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM! ” [59] At that point they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden from them and left the Temple.

Let’s take a look at who else the Bible says Jesus is! One of my favorite verses words it so beautifully:

Isaiah 9:6 NLT

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

That’s right! He’s our WONDERFUL Counselor, MIGHTY God, EVERLASTING Father, and PRINCE of Peace!! I love how detailed it is, because like I said before, He is so intentional and takes care of even the littlest details in our lives!

Jesus is LOVE

1 John 4:7-8 NLT

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. [8] But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

I had the opportunity to speak with one of my dearest friends, Madison Torres. What I love about her is that everytime I’m with her, she so clearly radiates the love of Jesus!! I asked her who Jesus is to her, and while I could quote bits and pieces, I would be robbing you of her full answer that is just so touching.

Madison’s Answer | Eternal Father

“Jesus is an eternal father. He is a loving father who cares for me and guides me through hard times. Jesus has many names but my favorite has always been cornerstone. We cannot go without Him. The cornerstone of a building is the reason it doesn’t crumble or fall apart. Jesus is a big reason why I haven’t just given up on opportunities, obeying His word, etc.

Whenever I don’t know what to do in life or situations, I lean on the Word (the Bible).

Jesus loves me whenever it seems like no one else cares. Jesus cares for me and guides me when I don’t know what to do. Jesus died on the cross for my sins, that is the greatest testament of love in history.”

You fill in the blank! Who is He to you? He’s our father, counselor, prince of peace, friend, savior, love… the list goes on and on! He is so amazing!
